A central part of the Bacolod experience is the culinary journey. No visit is complete without a trip to Manokan Country to taste the authentic Chicken Inasal, which is arguably the best in the country. The city is also a paradise for those with a sweet tooth; as the sugar capital, Bacolod has a bakery or a cake shop on nearly every corner. Exploring the local markets and specialty shops allows you to discover the "Pasalubong" culture, where travelers buy boxes of Piaya and Barquillos to take home to their loved ones.

The city’s cultural scene is equally vibrant, with museums and galleries that tell the story of Negros Occidental’s rise as a sugar powerhouse. You can explore the Negros Museum, which offers a deep dive into the island’s history, art, and ecology. During the MassKara Festival in October, the streets transform into a kaleidoscope of colors, with dancers wearing smiling masks and elaborate costumes. However, even outside the festival season, the city’s plazas and parks remain centers of social life where locals gather to enjoy the cool evening breeze.

From the scenic Lagoon where people jog in the mornings to the nearby mountain resorts that offer a view of the sea, the city provides plenty of opportunities to connect with nature.
