Batangas is known for its amazing beaches and equally amazing underwater scape. With only a few hours’ drive away from the city, it’s no surprise that a lot of water sports enthusiasts - especially divers - visit this place as often as possible.

Currently, Batangas is under the General Community Quarantine level. This means only APORs, Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs, )residents, and guests whose travel purpose is solely business/work-related are allowed in the province. But this doesn’t mean that you can’t plan ahead for your next travel to Batangas.

As soon as the province’s community quarantine levels move to MGCQ,  consider these things on our list that you need to do or try during your stay in Batangas.

Pilgrimage Tour - The province of Batangas is filled with historical religious sites, seminaries, and pilgrimage sites. This includes the Monastery of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Lipa City, Basilica de San Martin de Tours in Taal, St. Raphael the Archangel in Calaca, and the Transfiguration Chapel of Caleruega in Nagsubu just to name a few.

Even if you’re not a religious person, this would still interest you as these churches have some of the most beautiful architectural and artistic sites you’ll find in the country.

Lagadlarin Mangrove Forest (Lobo, Batangas) - A must-visit sight while in Lobo, the Lagadlarin Mangrove Forest lets you enjoy being one with nature. Though the walk through the boardwalk may seem long and tiring, you’ll certainly enjoy the mangroves that inhabit the place.

San Nicolas Ecotour (San Nicholas, Batangas) - It may be a while before we can safely visit Taal not just because of the pandemic but also because of the fact that the volcano can still very much erupt any time. Be as it may though, the San Nicolas Ecotour is known for its Lava Walk, a 280-step pathway built right over a trail of Taal Volcano’s hardened exotic black lava from its eruptions in the ’60s and ’70s. As well as, a stop at the 15th-century ruins of the original Taal Church.

Isla Verde and Verde Island Passage (Isla Verde, Batangas) - Isla Verde is a little rural island found between Batangas City and Puerto Galera, also known as Verde Island Passage. Famous as a dive site for professionals, it has been dubbed as “Washing Machine” and “Pinnacle (or Drop off)”. It’s such a remote place that divers who visit this little island need to bring their own food, gear, and even camping gear.

Food Trip (Lipa City, Batangas) - Batangas is known for a couple of local cuisines that you can easily get your hands on elsewhere in the country. However, nothing beats eating it at the place where it originated. That being said, Lipa is one of the towns you can visit in Batangas for that authentic Batangueño food trip such as the famous Batangas Lomi. Here are other of the local cuisines to try should you find yourselves in Batangas.
