New community quarantine guidelines are being implemented in Metro Manila, Laguna, and Bataan now that the initial August announcements have come and gone. For the remainder of the provinces, the initial guidelines are still in place.

This is due to the fact that the numbers of infected are increasing which includes people who are infected with the Delta variant. There’s also the fact that it was recently announced that the LAMBDA variant or the Peru variant was detected.
With that said, it’s much better for everyone to stay at home if it’s not essential to go out. As well as, if you can get vaccinated, please do so as this will immensely help you and others from getting severely sick from the virus.
We know with all these constant updates and changes on community quarantines, it can get very confusing especially if you’re itching to go someplace other than the supermarket or drugstore. That’s why we’ve answered all of your Covid travel-related questions here.
Where can I travel to in the Philippines right now?
Depending on where you’re coming from and where you’re going, this is a bit of a tricky question to answer. But to put it simply, if you’re coming from a province that is under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ), you can not travel for leisure anywhere. Hotels in these provinces are also not allowed to accept guests except for quarantine. That is, they are approved by DOH, DOT, and BOQ.
On the other hand, people coming from provinces that are under General Community Quarantine and all of its modifications can travel within provinces that are in the same category following all health and safety guidelines imposed on the province you want to visit. Hotels are also allowed to take in guests for both leisure, essential, and quarantine.
What is leisure travel and where can I go in the Philippines?
Leisure travel or non-essential travel is a trip made outside the usual environment for the main purpose of entertainment, holiday, recreation, relaxation, hobby, etc.
Provinces that are under the General Community Quarantine and all of its modified versions are open for leisure travel. However, best to check with the LGU of the province you want to visit to be sure.
What is essential travel and where can I go in the Philippines?
Essential travel means that people should not be traveling for leisure purposes and should only be traveling for essential reasons, such as: for work, for a funeral or medical purposes. Restrictions on whether essential travel restrictions are being enforced can vary between provinces and even cities. Again, it’s best to check the local announcement of the place you’re visiting to get the most accurate information.
What are the quarantine procedures for returning Filipinos?
In compliance with Philippine government regulations, travelers arriving in the Philippines starting May 8, 2021, and onwards shall undergo 14 days of quarantine, 10 of which shall be observed at an accredited hotel or facility, and the remaining 4 to be completed at home under the monitoring of their respective Local Government Units. Travelers shall also undergo an RT-PCR test on the seventh day of their quarantine stay.
You must stay at a hotel accredited by our Tourism and Health Agencies while you wait for your scheduled test and the release of results. You can only check out from your hotel on the tenth day of your quarantine stay. Day 1 starts on your arrival date.
If you are fully vaccinated, whether in the Philippines or abroad, and are coming from “Green” countries, you are required to hold only a 7-day booking. For more information on fully vaccinated passengers, check here.
