Being back stuck indoors can certainly affect our mental health once again especially if you’ve finally experienced being outside even just for a little bit. That’s why we know how much these new community quarantines implementations could be worrisome.
If you’re among those who are suffering mentally from this pandemic, keep these things in mind for when things get pretty overwhelming.
Disconnect from online noise - Although the internet seems like the only thing that can help you get by during this time, take some time to turn off your devices for a few hours. The internet can be a stressful place that will only add to your growing anxiety.
Keep your body moving - You don’t need to become an exercise enthusiast if you don’t want to. But even small movements such as walking around the room can vastly help with keeping your blood pumping. Being in quarantine, we can easily fall into a bad habit of just sitting down or lying on the bed. Being physically active can also help with keeping your mental health healthy.
Read a book or take on a new hobby - While you’re disconnected from the internet, why not try and take on a new hobby such as journaling, learning a new language or pick up that book you’ve never opened. This is a great way to keep you busy while enriching your knowledge or skills.
Take the time to just breathe - During this time, a lot of things can get frustrating, stressful, and overwhelming real fast. When this happens, take the time to yourself to calm down and relax. Learn to meditate to help you reset your mind and relieve you of the anxiety.
Get some ample amount of sleep - Sleep can help with your physical and mental self. It can also help with your immune system which is very important during this time. Get at least 8-9 hours of sleep.
Take care of your physical self - If you haven’t started with this one, this could be a great time to create your skincare routine. Indulge yourself with some face masks and even take a longer amount of time to take a shower. Taking care of your physical self can vastly improve your overall mood and mental health.
Eat healthily - It may be easy to fall into eating comfort foods, but try eating as nutritious as possible. Eating healthy doesn’t necessarily mean you have to let go of that mouth-watering chocolate cake. You can still eat your favorite sweets and treats in moderation. But put importance on nutritious foods such as fruits and vegetables that will help keep you healthy and strong especially during this time.
Keep in touch - Self-quarantine can get very lonely socially. We all need other people as humans. Regularly connect with loved ones online and offline to help you get by.
