The pandemic is still pretty much here – and everywhere, for that matter, and most government and health organizations are still cautioning everyone against traveling this year to battle transmission. However, things are looking up as more and more vaccines are being rolled out and more people are getting them all across the world. All we have to do is to wait patiently and safely.

With that said, it wouldn’t hurt to jumpstart your travel plans this new year. We know it could be difficult to plan as early as now given there are so many variables that could happen and it’s much easier to just wait and see how a couple of months would play out, but hear us out. There are many reasons why you should go ahead and plan your travels now. 

Of course, with all these things, we recommend that you do your research first. It wouldn’t hurt to read up on all things current especially about the updates on the pandemic. If you’re planning to travel overseas, make sure to check up on news regarding the country you’re planning to visit and know all their health and safety measures to prepare yourself. The same goes even if you travel locally.

 

1. Take advantage of flexible travel policies – Most accommodations, airlines, and tour companies have adapted flexible travel policies since last year. Thanks to this, planning your travels as early as now wouldn’t be as terrifying. You can easily cancel or postpone your plans should things going sideways again. Just make sure to read the fine print as businesses have different policies, and find one that you’re most comfortable with.

2. Secure availabilities – As the pandemic hit last year, most bookings for hotels, resorts, and such were canceled. But there were also a lot of people who opted to push their bookings to 2021 and even 2022. This means that there’s a big possibility that most dates will be booked by the time you do decide to plan your travels. By booking early, you’ll be able to secure availabilities with your accommodations, activities, etc. Plus, with most businesses being more lenient and flexible with their policies, you can be guaranteed that you won’t lose your money.

3. So many great deals and rates – As traveling was stopped last year, pretty much the entire travel industry all across the world are desperate to have it jumpstart as soon as possible. This means most businesses – if not all – are coming up with many different ways to attract travelers to book a trip in advance. Take advantage of the many great deals and rates they’re offering at the moment.

4. Support for the travel industry – The travel industry is among the sectors that were widely hit during the pandemic. Though it may not be hit as hard as the health and service industry, there are still plenty of people whose livelihood depends solely on tourism. By booking ahead of your travels, you’re helping them survive throughout this time.

5. Support for the local community -  It may be a while before other countries open their borders freely to tourists so international travel may take a while. That is why now is a better time for you to travel and explore your very own backyard. Not only are you supporting your local community, but you’re also getting to know your roots.

6. Something to look forward to – Waiting is a difficult thing to do especially if there are a lot of uncertain variables included. However, having something to look forward to after all of this has passed, will make time go by a lot faster. So, for now, keep yourself as safe and as healthy as possible, to prepare yourself for that much-awaited getaway.
