If last year’s predicament is anything to go by, there’s no better time to do some lifestyle changes than the new year. We’re already a few weeks into 2021, but it’s not too late just yet to make your new year’s resolutions or to add a couple more to your list.

Here are a couple of things you can add if you haven’t already along with a piece of advice. We know how hard it is to keep resolutions, and so, we know how every piece of help can do wonders in keeping them.

1. Stop procrastinating – One of the toughest enemies most people have in reaching their goals, procrastinating has been a difficult task to snap out of especially when we all started working from home. It is indeed a habit we all need to work hard to overcome. One great thing you can do is to create a to-do list at the start of the day to keep you on track. Avoid working in your bedroom as much as possible and especially on your bed.

2. Choose your battles – Not everything in this world has to be a competition. You don’t have to argue, debate, or fight every single person you meet that doesn’t agree with you. This includes being online. The internet has become such a toxic place that sometimes you’re more stressed when you’re on it than when you’re working. Turn off your devices for hours or days to have some time to unwind mentally.

3. Travel sustainably – Traveling may take some time to be 100% safe. But with vaccines coming out and being taken more and more by people, we can all be hopeful that we can all explore the world once again and soon. There are many ways you can travel sustainably including traveling locally while waiting for the rest of the world to open safely. Here are other ways you can check out as you start planning your future travels.

4. Forgive but don’t forget – Life’s too short to hold grudges. Life’s also too unpredictable if you think about what went down last year. That is why it’s better and healthier to just forgive than to remain sad and bitter. But that is not to say you should completely forget all about it. Learn from the experience so it doesn’t happen again.

5. Practice gratitude – There’s always something to be grateful for. Whether it may seem small or something big, it’s still part of your life that you should thank for. In this way, you’re also learning to be content with your life and not get jealous of someone else’s. An easy practice to do is to write down 5 things you’re thankful for the day or the entire week. Once you look back on all of those things, you’ll find how amazing and wonderful your life is.

New Year Resolutions are great opportunities for you to start or restart a practice. What’s great about them is that you don’t necessarily have to have a lot on your list. You can start with just one, and work your way towards more. The only thing important is that you try to follow and work on them as much as possible. We know that there are things that are difficult to learn and unlearn so it may take some time. But don’t be discouraged as it is part of working on yourself to become a better version of yourself.

All you have to do is to just start.
