The new year usually reinvigorates most of us to get back on track when it comes to our health and fitness. For some, this is usually the time where we find ourselves motivated to start getting fit. But you don’t need to wait for the new year to start being healthy and fit.

If you’re having a hard time on how to begin your fitness journey, maybe these few steps can help you.

SET YOUR GOAL
Start your fitness journey by setting your goal/s. It doesn’t necessarily have to be grand or many. Many people even suggest starting somewhere small -more attainable, measurable, and realistic, like eating more vegetables and fruits. Then, as you build that habit and reached that goal, you can work your way towards something bigger.

START SLOW AND SMALL
Whether you’re just starting now or trying to get back into things, you don’t need to push yourself to get things right immediately. It will take some time and results won’t happen overnight. Start slow and small until you get your pacing right.

SUBSCRIBE TO A WORKOUT
There are tons of workout routines and classes you can take. Find one that you think would work best for you and do it regularly. If you feel like you would have a hard time following the routine, hire a fitness trainer.

Since the pandemic is still here, you can opt to take virtual classes. There are plenty of mobile applications and classes that are available online.

EAT YOUR GREENS
All those hard work would be a complete waste if your diet isn’t exactly complementing it. Include a lot of vegetables and fruits into your daily intake to support your fitness journey. Add supplements as well. You can even hire a nutritionist or a dietician to be more precise.

MAKE IT FUN
Getting back on the health and fitness track doesn’t have to be all workout classes. There are tons of fun and exciting things you can do if classes don’t work for you. Why not try cycling or wall climbing? These activities are not only interesting but they can also keep you in shape.

CONSISTENCY
Like all things in life, being consistent will help you reach your goals easily and better. Find things that will help motivate and inspire you to continue and reach your fitness goals. It can be as simple as setting a reminder on your phone or inviting a friend to be your fitness buddy just to have someone keep you in check.

NEVER GIVE UP
You may have a hard time in the beginning, and might even get lazy most times - it’s alright. We are humans after all. But never give up just because you’ve gone off the beaten path. Forgive yourself and push on.
